A (somewhat) rare bird

Sunday, October 18, 2015

I was so thrilled to hear last week of a roseate spoonbill spotting in the Lowlands area of the Garden. I've been wanting to see and photograph one for a while. An earlier opportunity meant a long drive north, and preferring to sleep in on the weekend, I missed the chance of seeing spoonbills congregating. More recently, I had the pleasure of seeing one feeding in a flooded field in Homestead, but was sans camera.

This time I couldn't ask for a better opportunity than walking outside my office to a peninsula in the Lowlands (Plot 83) to get up close and fairly personal with this beautiful bird!
