FAIRCHILD CREATES FIRST BOTANY MAGNET PROGRAM IN THE U.S. AT BIOTECH @ RICHMOND HEIGHTS HIGH SCHOOL

Coral Gables, FL, May 5, 2015 – For the first time in the United States, high school students can focus their studies on botany at the new BioTECH @ Richmond Heights High School. Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden has teamed up with Miami Dade County Public Schools and Zoo Miami to offer a conservation biology education initiative that allows students to do on-site, hands-on research outside of the classroom, including contributing to the Million Orchid Project native orchid reinstallation.

RARE CORYPHA UTAN PALM FLOWERS AT FAIRCHILD

Coral Gables, FL, April 14, 2015Created by the American Public Gardens Association, National Public Gardens Day is a countrywide celebration that invites communities to explore the beauty of their local green spaces while raising awareness of the important role public gardens play in promoting conservation, education, and environmental preservation. Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden will mark this special day on Friday, May 8 from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. with reduced admission: $20 for adults, $13 for seniors 65 and up, and $7 for kids 6-17.

Stop by the Science Village to watch interactive demonstrations of the Million Orchid Project, which aims to reintroduce one million native and endangered orchids back into South Florida.
