Coral Gables, FL, March 2, 2015 – Exploring tropical flora and fauna, investigating the rich world of science and art, and fun and exciting outdoor activities are in store at the summer camps held at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. Become a certified Junior Naturalist at the Junior Naturalist Summer Camp or sharpen your creative talents at the new Drawn to Nature Art Camp.

Junior Naturalist Summer Camp invites campers to conduct science experiments, dissect flowers, construct solar ovens, discover butterflies and birds, and engage in entertaining environmental activities. The camp offers six one-week sessions, and participants can register for more than one. Sessions are June 15-July 24 and are held Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Participants must be 6-11 years of age. The cost is $175 per week for members and $200 per week for non-members. A limited number of need-based scholarships are available.

Drawn to Nature Art Camp is a new camp taught by award-winning artist and naturalist Hillary Parker. Observe, explore, and create beautiful works of art inspired by the natural beauty of Fairchild. Campers 8-11 years of age will develop strong art skills using different forms of media while working in a fun studio environment and outside “en plein air” style. One-week classes are offered Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., either June 15-19 or June 22-26. The cost for one week is $175 for members and $225 for non-members.
