SPRING IN BLOOM AT FAIRCHILD TROPICAL BOTANIC GARDEN

Coral Gables, FL, March 31, 2015 – Spring has ushered in lovely weather and new blooms at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. Events like the Spring Garden Festival & Plant Sale, which features delicious foods and the gardens they grow in, will welcome the new season.

Visit the Vine Pergola to see the shower of orchids (Congea tomentosa) blooming in a burst of pale pink and the magnificently colored jade vine (Strongylodon macrobotrys). Next to it is the Desert Rose (Adenium arabicum) with clusters of electric pink flowers. The Tropical Plant Conservatory houses the regal Rose of Siam (Etlingera corneri) torch ginger, which resembles a bouquet of roses growing out of the ground. The Rainforest has the magnificent fireworks-like red Brownea coccinea. The well-known Lignum vitae tree (Guaiacum sanctum) is in bloom with purple-blue flowers bordering Pandanus Lake. And, in several areas is the boldly red and yellow Flame of Jamaica (Euphorbia punicea).
